Cookie policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026. This policy applies to every board in the Outbid network and explains what cookies we set, why, and how to control them. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), analytics cookies are only set with your consent.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We use two kinds: strictly necessary cookies that the network cannot work without, and analytics cookies that help us understand how our boards are used — the latter only after you accept them.

Strictly necessary cookies (always set)

These keep the site working and secure. They don’t require consent and can’t be switched off in our consent tool.

CookiePurposeLifetime
outbid_consentRecords your cookie consent choice so we don’t ask again.1 year
next-auth.session-token / __Secure-next-auth.session-tokenKeeps you signed in to your account across pages.30 days
next-auth.csrf-tokenProtects forms from cross-site request forgery.Browser session

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — which boards are popular, where visitors come from, how they move around. These cookies are set only after you click “Accept analytics” on the consent bar. Choosing “Essential only” means none of them are set.

CookiePurposeLifetime
_gaDistinguishes unique visitors.2 years
_gidDistinguishes users within a short period.1 day
_ga_<ID>Persists session state for the analytics property.2 years
_gatThrottles request rate.1 minute

How to control cookies

  • Change your choice — use the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page to open the consent panel and switch analytics on or off. Revoking consent also clears any analytics cookies already set.
  • Browser settings — you can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will break signing in and other essential functions.
  • Analytics opt-out — Google also offers an opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics; we honour the consent you give on our site either way.

For details on what personal data we collect and your rights under the DPDP Act, see our Privacy Policy.
